It is intended to cover exêroence with flight tested fly_by_wire systems as well as issues in reduncary management of synchronous and asynchnonous approaches. It will specifically address the individual aspects of software fault tolerance, actuation fault tolerance, reliable data communication, and multi-computer operation using the ADA language. The author takes the reader though the turmoil of flight emergencies, unpopular ground-directed missions, and, ultimately, aircraft mishaps. He describes the difficult conditions placed upon the flyers by a system inadequately prepared to address human factor issues, and points out that it is the responsibility of those on the ground to improve the conditions on the flyer.
